Answer 1 :
And how much time would you need! It's 2824 miles driving from Sacramento to Orlando (Florida). At a typical 20mpg gas mileage, you'd need 141 gallons of gas. At about $3.20 per gallon, that's about $450 in gas EACH WAY, for a total of $900 in gasoline. Not to mention the wear & tear on your car - you might want to fly... or take a bus. If you drive 12 hours a day at 70 mph, that's 840 miles per day. You'd need 3.5 days of travel each way, or 7 days of total travel time.

Kevin already said it

About What is the best month to Travel to Bahamas and Orlando

What is the best month to Travel to Bahamas and Orlando?
Hi, I am planning to travel to Bahamas Cruise for a week this year. What are the best timings to travel to Bahamas and Orlando Area in Florida?
Bahamas - 4 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
The best time to go is during the winter months. It is much cheaper for you and who ever else is going.
Answer 2 :
It kind of depends on what you are looking for. I assume you are traveling from Port Canaveral for the cruise. Rates will be lower during value season, which is during hurricane season. I've never had a problem during hurricane season, so it is not something you absolutely have to avoid. If you are planning to go to some theme parks while in Orlando, than you will want to go when school is in session. The crowds will be lowest. So the best time is in Fall, Winter or Spring. The weather is also nicer during this time, these are the most enjoyable times to go. Hope this helps!
Answer 3 :
Anytime but hurricane season which starts in July and goes thru to December. It rains all the time.
Answer 4 :
As a general rule I like to go the last week of April through the middle of May for several reasons. It's not Hurricane Season. It isn't too hot but still warm enough for everthing in the water. Spring break is over for everyone and Summer vacation hasn't started yet, so you aren't going to deal with either of those crowds. Fishing is good that time of year, my personal favorite hobby. That's my opinion (leaving on cruise in 36 days).

About Requirements to travel to Orlando from the UK

Requirements to travel to Orlando from the UK?
Im travelling to orlando in september. I have filled out all the ESTA forms for my family and have all been approved. Does anything else need to be done before we fly? Also do we have to take a copy of the ESTA approval to the airport? Do we still need to fill out the green cards on the plane? Thanks for any help.
Orlando - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Yes u need your ESTA forms. Im not sure but take a copy just incase. Yes u need to fill out the green cards.
Answer 2 :
You don't need to take the ESTA forms with you. At the moment the American authorities are still requesting that the green I94 visa waiver forms are filled in on the plane just as they were before ESTA existed so be prepared with your address details and passport numbers. Other than that you are good to go ! have a great time.

About What is the best Orlando Travel deal

What is the best Orlando Travel deal?
I was wondering if anyone knows of any great deals for a vacation in orlando florida? I'm trying to take my kids on a great vacation but still be reasonable with prices. I've done a bit of research and found one: http://whitecaplg.com/special/view/5 Do you guys think this a great vacation deal or know of anything even better?
Orlando - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
The deal is that you will have to sit through a 90 minute presentation where they will try to sell you property. It sounds like you are single, but if you aren't, they may not make the reservation if your spouse doesn't come along. I used to go on these about once a year and I found the following phrase very helpful: "I go on these all the time. I never buy." In Whistler, BC, that stopped the hard-sell in it's tracks in the first 5 minutes. It's a bargain. A couple years ago I toured a Disney property just to get a special ticket that would allow me to get to the front of the lines.

Is it fun to travel to Orlando by myself?
I am looking for some information about traveling to orlando for my first time. I have been looking to take a trip my self for a while now. So my question is since I will be traveling alone is there enough stuff to do in orlando by yourself. Not really big on the whole disney thing so that is out. But I think I would love to check out universal. I am thinking of going for 5 days. Any information would be great.
Other - Destinations - 1 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Absolutely! Especially if you take in Universal. I regularly go to the parks by myself and never feel "deprived." When eating in CityWalk, just outside of the two theme parks at Universal, sit at the bar (even if you don't drink). Just about everywhere I can think of serves the full menu at the bar and the servers are always friendly, plus you will find it easy to strike up conversations with those next to you. However, if you'd like company, try going to the Universal chat board at http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=30 Maybe you can find someone who's going to be there the same time you are. And don't overlook SeaWorld! It has some great shows.

I am going on a trip to orlando alone in jan 09 by myself and planning on staying about 2 weeks on a resort in disneyworld. I am also going to check out universal studios and sea world and try to make it to a few malls. Is it a good idea to be travelling to florida alone?

Answer 1 :
i'm supposed to go today..its not about being dangerous or not..its just your not gonna enjoy it without someone else..yes its pretty safe..if your not stupid..lol
Answer 2 :
its kay, just be careful, how old are you though? it would be funner with friends though....
Answer 3 :
Disney is a very safe place all around, and it can be an advantage because you can get in the single rider lines (much, much faster).
Answer 4 :
Orlando has had some bad press about an increase in crime, but Disney World is like a city unto it's self and does not have the crime rate as the rest of Orange county. The areas to be cautious in are the I-Drive area and venturing out in the Downtown area. I would stay away from Orange Blossom Trail area as well. Just don't let your guard down while on vacation: keep hotel doors locked, don't go to ATMs at night, don't walk about on I-Drive at night alone, don't carry too many packages to your car and so fourth. I suggest you read our local newspaper, The Orlando Sentinel http://www.orlandosentinel.com and get a feel for the city. You can make yourself a knowledgeable visitor by knowing the lay of the land and what areas to avoid and when. Orlando was named as the third cleanest city in the US by Forbes magazine (source: Forbes, America's Cleanest Cities 3/17/2008), but also had a record murder rate last year. A city of contrasts indeed. Bottom line, Orlando is the City Beautiful, but one should not let their guard down, especially if here alone. Learn about the city, enjoy the parks and be-careful on I-4 and I-Drive.
Answer 5 :
I wouldn't even if you're an adult. Ask a friend to go with you or cut your stay in half and take precautions.
Answer 6 :
If you stay in the tourist areas you're good. Don't go to OBT (Orange Blossom Trail) unless you want a hooker or to get shot.
Answer 7 :
You should feel safe especially staying at Disney. It isn't as hard to get around as some seem to think. Ofcourse don't put yourself in dangerous situations - example: party get drunk at Pleasure Island and then take a stranger back to your hotel room or something (yes it has happened and yes results were not good) but seriously no matter where you go in the world, be aware of your surroundings!

How long does it take to travel from one park to another in Disney World, Orlando?
Exactly what it says :) How long by monorail? Boat (I read there were boats)? Bus? :D Any other things I ought to know? We're traveling to Orlando this May, so hopefully there won't be that many people :) If you have any extra tips too, that would be great! Thank you!
Orlando - 11 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
It has been awhile since my last visit but here is what I remember: There are shuttles all over. THe whole thing is quite spread out so even if you do get on a shuttle right away, you will be surprised at how long the ride takes. Sometimes you have to make stops along the way at other parks or hotels too. Depends on the crowds too
Answer 2 :
The bus ride between parks is faster than the bus ride to the hotels. There are boats from certain hotels to certain parks or downtown disney. The buses between parks are clearly labled. The monorail does NOT go to all the parks just between Epcot and Magic Kingdom and several hotels. As always - the WDW website has thought of about everything and here is their site for transportation: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/planning-guides/in-depth-advice/resort-transportation/
Answer 3 :
well if u went by car probably 20 minutes if you went by bus you would have to go the transportation and ticket center about 30 minutes (with no crowd) boat from epcot to hollywood studios it can take up to 10 minutes if you take the right boat Monorail from magic kingdom to epcot you have to go to the transportation and ticket center and can take 40 minutes it pretty much all depends on if there are crowds and stuff
Answer 4 :
There are not buses from one park to another. You must go from a park to the Ticket and Transportation Center (or any WDW resort) and hop on another bus to go to a different park. At the TTC you will find buses to all parks, monorail to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT and a Ferry to the Magic Kingdom. Plan on at least 30 minutes to wait for a bus at a park, ride to the TTC, wait for the next transportation, and ride to the next park.
Answer 5 :
It varies by what mode of transportation you choose and how lucky you are. The transportation between options are as follows: Monorail connections between Magic Kingdom (to be shortened to MK for the rest of this answer) and Epcot, Boat connections available between MK and the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC for short...and I'll explain what the TTC is further down) as well between the Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Finally there are bus connections between all 4 theme parks except between Epcot and MK. Now here's the thing, anyone going to the Magic Kingdom has to go through the TTC, so when you board the monorail at Epcot (or a bus elsewhere) you actually end up at the TTC and not MK, and you must take a connecting monorail or ferry boat. Now for the times: In rank order of speed monorails are fastest, followed by buses, and boats are byfar the slowest. Time between TTC and Magic Kingdom is about 5-8 minutes barring any traffic holding and wait time is no more than 10 minutes. Time between Epcot and TTC is closer to about 10-12 mins with a 15 min wait time at worse. (What I mean by wait time is that...thats the longest you would probably have to wait prior to getting on the transportation item...it doesn't mean it will be THAT long...you could get lucky and be at the right place at the right time...but thats normally the upper limit you'd have to stand and wait around). So total travel time between Epcot and MK should be around 20-30mins sum total. As for the buses...they're all about 30-40 mins flat including wait time, but that wait time is excruciating since it goes by ever so slowly. Likewise, if you see someone in a wheelchair getting on (I'm sorry to sound like a bad person but this is true) then add another 10 mins for loading and securing the wheelchair. They run about 2 buses per route and...they don't rush lol. Finally for boats, the boat between MK and TTC should be about 20 mins, and the boat between the Hollywood Studios and Epcot is going to be closer to 40 mins. Note that this boat between the Hollywood Studios and Epcot stops at 3 resorts along its route so that's why its incredibly slow...but at the same time it also affords you and your family a break and a chance to sit down in some air condition comfort. Also some might wonder...where is this said boat between Epcot and the Hollywood Studios, or why would I take it besides the fact that it gives me a chance to take a break: and here's why it's located at the back of Epcot. That means should you randomly decide to leave Epcot and say "We should go to the Hollywood Studios, right now!" and you're in the world showcase...that saves you a long walk to the front of Epcot where the buses are. If you walk slow or have kids or simply don't want to take that walk...this is an option available. Biggest tip I can give however...limit the number of times you switch between parks, in all of my years of going to Disney, that is the most helpful thing you can do to maximize your time on the rides (or at least spending them in the parks) and not burning it elsewhere. Once you are in a park, stay there until you are done. Unless you have a fastpass that you can't use until 8pm and its 10am right now as you look at said fastpass...then you want to move to another park and come back later. This tip only applies when I'm not at Disney...if I'm at Disney...please keep switching between parks, it'll make the ride lines shorter for me :-p Have a fantastically magical trip!!
Answer 6 :
Use your transportation time as a rest period. It is nice to sit in an air conditioned bus for a while. The boats are a slow and comfy ride also. The monorails are a quick way to travel between Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, with a few stops at a few resorts. Plan on 1 and 1/2 hours to leave a park, board your transportation and walk into the next park. The whole experience of traveling Disney World can be enjoyable. Riding the boats and monorails offer lots of views of the Disney grounds. The buses also offer some views of the world.
Answer 7 :
Walking out the gate, to your choice of transportation, getting to the next park, walking to the next gate and actually getting in the park can take you at least 30 minutes, sometimes upwards of an hour.
Answer 8 :
If you would like to see how close all theme parks are, you can take an aerial tour and get a bird's eye view. It's amazing and gives you a different perspective.
Answer 9 :
I would count on one hour from ride to ride. By that, I mean, that when you leave a ride at any one park, it will be about an hour until the next ride. You have to get to the transportation, wait for it to come, take the transportation to the next park, re enter the park, walk to the ride and wait in line. Are you staying on property? You can get in one park early that day. Go there one hour before the park opens. The first 60 minutes or so of rides are "walk on" by lunch time, head for another park as this one fills up. Other tips - ride during the parades as the lines are shorter. Start in the back of the park, and MOST important, plan you day BEFORE you get to the park. Hope you have a super time!
Answer 10 :
-Boats: TTC to Magic Kingdom (about 15 minutes) Around EPCOT (about 20 minutes) -Monorail Around Seven Seas Lagoon (about 20 minutes) Express Monorail (about 10 minutes) TTC to EPCOT (about 25 minutes) -Buses: Depends on origin and destination Make dining reservations in advance Check the weather on weather.com The EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is from late March to late May. If you're flying, get your boarding passes online the day before. Have a great trip!
Answer 11 :
As an additional note, you did not mention if you will have a car. If you will have a car and are staying at a Disney resort, parking at each theme park is free. If you are staying off site and will have a car, the parking pass you pay for each morning is actually good at all of the parks for that day. You only pay once per day. So, if I parked at the TTC so that I could go to the Magic Kingdom, but planned to go to Epcot in the afternoon, I would take the Monorail. If, however, I planned to leave the Magic Kingdom to go to Hollywood Studios I would take my car. So, if you are staying off-site and bringing in a car each day, you should take that car with you as you hop unless you are hopping between Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. If you have your car in the parking lot don't even consider getting on a bus. Just don't do it. Note that using your car also gives you the opportunity to grab a drink and a snack from the cooler in your trunk that does not cost the family $50. You generally want to limit the hopping that you do as you do end up losing up to an hour of park time. We do, however, get the hopper option. Here is what we tend to do. Day 1. Magic Kingdom all day. Take the ferry from the TTC to the MK instead of the monorail. The trip is longer but the wait is shorter. Since you are getting there before it opens anyway, a 5 min difference one way or the other does not matter. Plus, we always like to huddle together on a chilly morning as the MK comes slowly into view. Day 2. Epcot all day. Day 3. Hollywood Studios all day. Day 4. Animal Kingdom, then hop to HS using the car. Day 5. Magic Kingdom then hop to Epcot on the monorail. Day 6. Epcot, then HS, then MK all using the car. Close out the trip with the fireworks at MK, and try not to cry as you leave that night. The actual order varies since it depends on the fireworks schedule and the opening and closing times of each park. This plan allows us to pretty much do everything, and do the cool stuff a few times. We did do all 4 parks on the last day one trip when it was not busy. We hopped to each park and did our favorite couple attractions.

Answer 1 :
Do not take a cab. This will cost your hundreds of dollars a cab from oviedo to orlando which is only about a 20 min drive is easily 60 bucks. If you do not want to rent a car which is what i would suggest. It will give you the most freedom and most times you can pick one up at the air port and drop it off at the other air port if you talk to the person at the desk. If you do not want to rent a car you can hook up with the folks at Florida Express Bus. They pick people up from most anywhere in orlando and take them to destinations all over central flroida including melbourne. The link to there info and a another group is below: http://www.thefloridaexpressbus.com/ http://www.centralfloridashuttle.com/ Keep in mind Orlando and all of florida for that matter is a car centric area. No car means major difficulties getting around the city bus system sucks and cabs are really expensive and have to be called in advance there is no hailing a cab on the street like in other major cities. Good luck.
Answer 2 :
I agree that renting a car is your best bet. It really isn't that far - about a hour and 15 min. Check rental cars on Orbiz.com, kayak.com or the individual car rental sites: Enterprise, Hertz, Almo, Avis, Thrifty Good luck

What is the cheapest way to travel from orlando to NYC?
My family and I (2 adults; 2 children 8;9) are traveling in April 2010 from Orlando to NYC - need to the cheapest way to get there, and preferably a fairly quick method. If possible we need to fly to JFK where our international flight departs from. Our budget is very tight - so any suggestions are welcome!
Other - United States - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
If you're flying out of JFK on an international flight you will need to fly into JFK from Orlando, unless you plan on driving all the way to JFK, finding a place to park, plus paying for parking, making sure you get to the airport on time, paying for a hotel if necessary, etc ... it will be much cheaper to take a flight from Orlando into JFK. If you have already booked a flight out of JFK to your international destination, you should check to see if you can get a flight from Orlando to JFK with one of the airline's alliance members, which can save you money and help you out in the event that your Orlando-JFK flight gets delayed and you miss the international flight. If it's a U.S. airline, simply book a flight with the same U.S. airline from Orlando to JFK. Airlines with direct flights from Orlando to JFK are ... - JetBlue (this is a low cost airline, use them if possible) - American - Delta Any other airline will involve a connection in another U.S. city before arrival at JFK.
Answer 2 :
well i would highly recommend an airline where you can book for $69.00 per person like southwest. the last time i traveled from NYC to Orlando i flew with southwest and i paid $69.00. you will save a lot and who knows you might hire a limousine with the money saved for your pick up from the airport to the city. it would be a treat!!!!

What is the cheapest way to travel from Orlando to Kennedy Space centre?
Me and my family (2 adults and 2 children) will be on holiday in the US next year in April, and we are looking for the cheapest (yest safe) way of traveling from Orlando to KSC. Most of the shuttle service providers are quite expensive, and we were wondering if there is a cheap form of public transport such as bus or train. Please help!
Other - Destinations - 2 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Best way would be to rent a vehicle.. seriously. bc you can't and wouldn't want to take the bus.. we don't have trains (like your thinking) in Orlando.. it takes about 30-40 minutes by car (I think that'd be your best bet).
Answer 2 :
There is no public transportation between Orlando and the Kennedy Space Center. One option would be to take a bus tour. Gray Line offers a 15 hour excursion for $95. http://www.grayline.com/Grayline/destinations/us/orlando.go But renting a car will be a lot cheaper than buying four tour tickets. There are many cheap car rental companies in Orlando, most of them near the airport. You should be able to get a car for under $50 a day. By the way, the drive to KSC from Orlando's tourist district takes about an hour.

What is your best Orlando / Disneyworld travel tip?
My family will be taking a once in a lifetime trip to Orlando this May. This will truly be the only time we will probably ever get to take this trip, so we want to do it right, but we do have a tight budget! Please help us out by sharing your best travel tip for Orlando and or Disneyworld. We have a 6 yo and a 14 yo. and will be traveling from the opposite end of the country (Oregon). Thank you so much!

Answer 1 :
Make sure that you don't spend too much time in one line. Some lines tell you how long the wait may be. If the line takes more than 45 minutes, find another ride and try to go back later unless you really want to ride it. Disney World is expensive and time is precious there. Make sure you check out what each park has to offer and decide which park(s) you are going to well in advance so you don't waste your day, your ticket money or your parking money. Parking can be $10+ per vehicle and if you switch between parks you have to pay to park again unless you use the train that takes you between the parks. Make sure that you leave the hotel early enough in the day to be able to get to the parks before it gets too hot or too crowded. When I went with my friend and her family a couple years ago, we didn't leave the hotel until 11-12am and it felt like a lot of my day was wasted.
Answer 2 :
Bring a light sweater just in case because: TRUE STORY: This month a family from the UK brought summer clothes when instead it was 32 degrees and snowing in Orlando. They spent their whole trip spending hundreds of dollars on winter clothing and didn't get a refund on their Disney tickets.
Answer 3 :
Spend a lot of time planning before you go. Have all your meals planned. You don't have to eat in one of Disney's big restaurants every meal, but if you are going to eat in one, you need to make reservations today. May is a good time to visit. For the most part crowds will be light. Make sure you are familiar with FastPass and Extra Magic Hours. Both will help you avoid lines. The best tip I can give you is to be at the parks at least 20 minutes before they open. A lot of guests arrive about 11am. You can do more in the first couple of hours than you can the rest of the day. Again, start planning today. It's fun.
Answer 4 :
Actually, I have a couple of tips for you from my trips over the years. First, stay on property at a Disney owned resort. Disney has a resort to fit any budget, plus the perks they offer their resort guests are second to none. For example, you have use of the Magical Express, which is free transportation to and from Orlando Int'l Airport, if you are flying in. Complete with luggage service. You can take advantage of Extra Magic hours, where one park is open early and one open late each day for resort guests only. You get the famous Disney service. You also get to use the transportation system. The last one doesn't seem like much, except for the fact that the off-site hotels offer limited shuttle service, and in many cases it costs extra. Staying on property also gives you the option of adding the Disney Dining Plan, a large cost savings on your biggest expense while at Disney. When you purchase your park tickets, at the very least add the park hopper option. The base Magic Your Way ticket allows you to enter one park per day. The park hopper allows you to come and go as you please. For example, if you enter the Magic Kingdom and find that it is pretty crowded after you enter, you can always leave, jump on the monorail to Epcot, and shift gears for the day. My family likes to go to one park in the morning, and then a different park in the evening depending on where we eat dinner or what night time show or parade we want to see. You can only do this if you purchase the park hopper option. It will add money to your ticket prices, but it is worth it. Make your reservations as soon as possible. The more time you take to plan, the better off you will be. That also goes for restaurant reservations. Disney takes restaurant reservations up to 180 days in advance, so if there is a place you definitely want to eat at you need to make the arrangements ASAP. If this is a once in a lifetime thing, I highly recommend Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort. It is a character meal that is an easy way to get up close and personal with the fab five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto.) Food is good, buffet style, not really that expensive for what you get. If you want more great tips and advice check out the disboards. The disboards is a message boards type website that is all about going to Disney. You can get resort reviews, restaurant reviews, tips for avoiding crowds, advice on rides, just about any topic you can think of. I go to Disney often and I always learn something new when I visit the site, in fact I have been on it quite a bit for the trip we are taking in April. I put the link below. I hope this all helps. Have a great trip!
Answer 5 :
1. Take advantage of the Early morning & late evening park hours. It's a perk only available to guests staying at the Disney resorts. You can get the majority of your rides done in those times. 2. Plan dinner at the park you will be visiting that day. It takes too much time to leave a park early enough so you can travel to another park or resort just for dinner. 3. Make use of Single Rider lines. A few big attractions have them. All that means is that you can go through quicker, you won't sit by someone you know, but that's not really a big deal. 4.Bring along powdered drink mixes to add to water bottles. Florida water is gross, and it costs too much to keep buying bottled water. Just refill your water bottle and pour in a drink mix. Voila- you can't taste the water anymore!
